A rack and pinion is a type of linear actuator that comprises a circular gear (the pinion) engaging a linear gear (the rack). Together, they convert between rotational motion and linear motion. Rotating the pinion causes the rack to be driven in a line. Thank you For audio Music by Bensound.com License code: FVNLVSE8DR83VOGU

Rack-and-pinion combinations are often used as part of a simple linear actuator, where the rotation of a shaft powered by hand or by a motor is converted to linear motion. Music by: www.bensound.com License code: 0KHALSXBLBSILTIC
Gearless Right Angle Drive
Переглядів 4,9 тис.8 місяців тому
A right-angle gearbox is one in which the input shaft and the output shaft meet at a 90o angle. This configuration allows for torque to be transmitted from one axis to a perpendicular axis-using rotation to transfer power. Right-angle gearboxes are used in numerous types of mechanical designs, including automotive transmissions and industrial applications. Gearboxes are ideal in these settings ...

How Ratchet Handle Work
Переглядів 26 тис.2 роки тому
A ratchet is a handle that snaps into one end of a socket by means of a square-drive connector. The other end of the socket fits over a fastener. A mechanism in the ratchet allows the handle to engage and tighten the fastener when you swing it in a clockwise direction and turn freely when you swing it counterclockwise. Coaxial Propeller Drive
Переглядів 70 тис.2 роки тому
Contra-rotating, also referred to as coaxial contra-rotating, is a technique whereby parts of a mechanism rotate in opposite directions about a common axis, usually to minimise the effect of torque. Examples include some aircraft propellers, resulting in the maximum power of a single piston or turboprop engine to drive two propellers in opposite rotation. #engineering #animation #3d #auto #engi...

    Aside from grammatical errors, this is one of the near perfect videos of youtube. Its first excellent quality is that it teaches. The second quality is WHAT it is teaching. It teaches a fundamental method of acquiring water, a resource necessary for all life. Third, it used no words. Fourth, it was brief. Fifth, it showed how to build it. Lastly, there was no fat, like subscription requests. This video is a gem. With a touch up to the English it should to go to the archives.

    Seems like a lot of parts and a lot of machining just to replace 2 simple bevel gears, doesn't it? I've built a few right angle boxes for may own use, but I would never spend that much time to do that.

    • @grumpybastard5744

      Bevel gears are difficult to make and require specialised equipment. They are only "simple" if they are readily available, whereas this device can be made by anyone with a lathe.

    • @aeromach2007
      @aeromach2007 Місяць тому

      @@grumpybastard5744 ,, 50-100 years ago you don't have access to an industrial supply house or if you are talking about right now, you don't have access to the internet? Really?

    • @Le_Flatfish
      @Le_Flatfish Місяць тому

      @@aeromach2007yeah, but 50-100 years ago (and even more, 19th century) factories did have readily access to lathes. This is super easy to machine on a lathe, as it only requires a casting for the right angle and a pole for it to drive on. Way simpler for 1800’s tech than manufacturing bevel gears
